DR. KURTZMAN HAS COMPLETED OVER 3,500 HOURS OF CONTINUING EDUCATION IN THE AREAS OF IMPLANT DENTISTRY, COSMETIC DENTISTRY AND OTHER DENTAL TOPICS. A GRADUATE OF THE AAID / HOWARD UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY IMPLANT MAXI COURSE, HE HAS BEEN TRAINED IN ALL ASPECTS OF IMPLANT DENTISTRY. HE HAS ACHIEVED A FELLOWSHIP IN THE ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY, PIERRE FAUCHARD ACADEMY INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ORAL IMPLANTOLOGISTS AND THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF DENTISTS. HOLDS MASTERSHIP IN THE ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY AND IMPLANT PROSTHETIC SECTION OF ICOI.HE ALSO IS A DIPLOMATE OF THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF ORAL IMPLANTOLOGY. IS A FORMER ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR FOR AN IMPLANT MAXI-COURSE. AN INTERNATIONAL LECTURER AND PUBLISHED AUTHOR. DR. KURTZMAN HELD THE POSITION OF ASSISTANT CLINICAL PROFESSOR AT UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND SCHOOL OF DENTISTRY, IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENDODONTICS, PROSTHETICS & OPERATIVE DENTISTRY.

Born in 1959, Dr. Kurtzman was raised in Deer Park, New York. He attended the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia as an undergraduate Biology major with a minor in Genetics and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (DDS) in Washington, DC in 1986. Dr Kurtzman began his private practice in 1987 in the Leisureworld Plaza Medical Building in the Norbeck area of Silver Spring, Maryland.

In 1993, Dr. Kurtzman returned for advanced studies when he completed a year long Howard University/AAID (American Academy of Implant Dentistry) Implant Maxi-Course. He joined the faculty of the program as Assistant Program Director from 1997-2000.
"I became interested in dental implants when my wife lost a baby tooth without a permanent replacement in 1993. I had much more control over the restorative aspects when I started placing implants myself."
Dr. Kurtzman was formerly on the faculty at The University of Maryland in Baltimore teaching clinical restorative dentistry in the department of Endodontics, Prosthetics and Operative Dentistry, holding the position of Assistant Clinical Professor. He is currently on the Editorial Board of several prominent dental publications. He has been honored as being selected as one of the top 100 Dental Lecturers by Dentistry Today in 2006, 2007 and again in 2008. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on the topics of restorative dentistry, endodontics, removable prosthetics and dental implant surgery and prosthetics and has had over 140 journal articles published in peer reviewed publications. Since 1989, Dr. Kurtzman has been a dedicated volunteer and member of the Maryland AGD (Academy of General Dentistry) and has served as the Editor of the Maryland Academy of General Dentistry newsletter since 1990. He has also been the Maryland AGD Mastership Track Program Administrator since 1994. The program is a nationally recognized continuing education program for dentists to achieve Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). Dr. Kurtzman has completed over 3,000 hours of continuing education since graduating from dental school and also completed over 200 hours at the prestigious Pankey Institute (www.pankey.org).

Dr. Kurtzman achieved Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 1995 and Mastership (MAGD) in 1999. He is also a Diplomate (DICOI) in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) and has attained Mastership in the Implant Prosthetic section of the ICOI (MIPS/ICOI). He has attained Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy (FPFA) and also the American College of Dentists (FACD).
Dr. Kurtzman currently serves as a consultant to multiple dental companies. These companies are providing him with an opportunity to use and assist in the development of numerous products. He has also conducted research that has influenced how his fellow dentists render patient treatment.
